I miss Alexa so much!!! I want it back. Hey Lucid isn’t as functional and now I have to use my phone while driving to play my favorite podcasts and music from Alexa.
You can get Alexa back with a small Amazon Echo device made for the car on amazon.com for ~$55.00. Another option is to put Alexa on your phone and access it through Apple CarPlay (if you have an iPhone).
 
You can disable Hey Lucid but you can’t bring Alexa back. It was removed when Hey Lucid was installed. If you want Alexa in your Lucid after upgrading to v2.4, you can get a small mobile Echo device that plugs into your car on amazon.com for ~$55.00. I just use Alexa on my phone through Apple CarPlay and that works, too.
I don't want wires hanging out of my dashboard. I can connect my phone via Bluetooth and use the Alex app on my phone, but that is kludgy and will not give a stable experience like built in Alex does.

I get it, not as ideal as having Alexa built into the Lucid. However, you can plug the Alexa Auto device into one of the USB ports in the storage arm rest between the seats so there are no ”wires hanging out”.

Bottom line is you have a choice on whether to upgrade to the latest software or not. Although I use Alexa all the time in my car, I’m used to using it through Apple Carplay, since this is how I accessed it when I had my previous vehicle. Again, not as ideal as having it built in, but at least there is a workaround for those who want the other added features of this upgrade like me.

I’ve voiced my concern on their decision to remove Alexa to Marqie Carter-Rivaldo, Manager, Voice of the Customer at Lucid headquarters. She can be reached by email at marqiecarter@lucidmotors.com. Her phone number is 650-781-1583. She would be a good person to express your concern to. If we get enough people to complain, we may get them to put it back soon. I sure hope so.

the recent OTA replacing ALEXA with Hey Lucid was a terrible decision. Hey LUCID has little information, even the most basic such as distance to a place or restaurant hours. Even worse, ever since the OTA I have innumerable media problems between Car Play and LUCID .... anyone else suffering?
Just installed 2.4.4 last night. About damn time!! So much good stuff! Much better tracking on highways and especially on curves and in traffic. Lane changing is great. Even the Apple CarPlay sync with iOS18 is improved.
I didn't use Alexa before (privacy issues) and have never been part of that ecosystem so I just don't miss it. I think the software people at Lucid just have to decide for how many systems they are going to build and maintain interfaces and Alexa lost the race. Sorry.
Would love to know if it's possible to upgrade my 2023 Air by swapping out the A/C compressor for the new heat pump. It does get cold in the mid-Atlantic in Winter, (an issue the California designers probably didn't think about a few years back).
It would seem that the great virtue of Lucid's design would be the opportunity to swap out certain parts and modules as technology and software improves instead of scrapping the entire vehicle and buying an entirely new model. To a significant degree, the vehicle upgrade model justifies the much higher purchase entry price as it translates into a less wasteful investment.
 
Just got off the phone with Aaron at Customer Care. He shares our frustration. He doesn't yet have a a list of Hey Lucid commands and he regrets that. He says if you have a music source setup, ie. Spotify or Tidal, you can ask Hey Lucid, "Play 60's rock", or "play Hey Jude by the Beatles" and it will do it. I tried and it worked. You can also change temperature, Hey Lucid, "change the temperature in the Rear to 72", and it will do it. I confirmed. You can ask for a weather report. I also confirmed that when I have Apple Car Play on, I can say Hey Siri and it will respond to any Siri commands....so that is pretty good. So far, that replaces almost everything that I was asking Alexa to do previously. The only thing that I haven't found yet is a news report. Amazon had that...I can't find it with Siri or Hey Lucid. He told me that Amazon is phasing out "car support", and that is what compelled them to drop Alexa. They want to get AHEAD of it, rather than waiting for Amazon's actions and then be BEHIND. Who knows? They might prefer working with Apple on CarPlay rather than Amazon. But for now, it is still a bit unreliable but has a lot of what Alexa had previously. AND you can adjust the car climate controls.
 
My Lucid request is to put a list together only what could be done with "car" changes such as controlling widow defroster or controlling internal heating/air conditioning. Not outside things like weather or music. Lucid should create such a list.

I agree that there should be a list for Hey Lucid. Perhaps they do not want to be flooded with requests for what get added to the list as they continually improve the software? Regardless, this seems like a reasonable request. Perhaps they are wanting users to 'explore' and see what they can find. I think Apple does that with many of their products.

He stated that he would put in a request for the change for me but that there were less than 5 people requesting a change. I told him that there were many more that were unhappy and I advised him to check lucid-forum.com. He told me that he would include a recommendation to review that website.

I was unhappy with the loss of Alexa as well and told customer service rep Aaron that it was not acceptable to take away features that were part of the package when you bought the car. He agreed but said that Amazon is "depreciating" the Alexa program and particularly the car support...and they wanted to get ahead of it rather than have it lose support and then have to do an update to remove it. I use Alexa all over my home, to control the lights, Sonos music and Next thermostat, so I'm not giving up on it, but it is gone from the car for good, unless you install an Alexa Auto, which others have described in the forum.

As an iPhone user, after the OTA update, with the loss of Alexa, I started using Hey Siri along with Hey Lucid, and to my pleasant surprise, with these two virtual assistant systems in the car, I can now do everything that I was previously doing with Alexa. Let's list then:

1) I have Spotify set up in Lucid Setup and Carplay. When I say, "Hey Siri, play [song]" or best of [artist], it now plays music just like Alexa used to do. I can also ask for NPR or CNN news, and it plays it.

2) I can now do something that wasn't working before the upgrade. I ask, "Hey Lucid, change the temperature to 71" and it does it. You can also say, "Hey Lucid, set the temperature in the rear to 71", and it does it. But it is still OFF, until you say, "Hey Lucid, turn on climate control in the rear".

A Note: I think any settings that you make in a car should be SAVED and be enabled the way you set them, when you use the car next. This business of having to turn on the Rear climate control each time is ridiculous. It should remember how it was previously set, off or on.

3) I can ask, "Hey Siri, [anything I can ask Siri on my phone]". For example, "Hey Siri, send text message to Joe Blow" and it will talk me through dictating the text message. I can say, "Call Joe Blow, and it will place the call." I think you can make calls with Hey Lucid also, but I haven't tested it.

BTW, the App is connecting to the car WAY faster now. Thanks for that...as the Summer ends here in South Florida, I will enjoy for awhile cooling the car down before reaching it in the parking lot or in my garage. You northerners will enjoy pre-warming the car in winter.

I'm going to make statement here - with a few more tweaks, I might now be satisfied with the information/entertainment system in this car for the first time. Adding that improvement to the driving experience of the car, which I think we all agree is AWESOME and this is now quite a sophisticated car to drive.
 
Since I don't own an Apple phone, none of the Siri stuff is helpful. I used Alexa to play my Audible books and could change titles, rewind and fast forward or go to a chapter. My music library is all on Amazon music-another fail for Hey Lucid. I also use TuneIn, Spotify and Tidal. Hey Lucid can't tell the difference. In fact, it annoying tries to take me to a song similar to what I am asking for (like a song about tunes if I ask for TuneIn.) It can't seem to find any contacts and rarely finds a location without my resorting to manual searching. What I did NOT need is a voice command to replace the A/C controls. There are both touch controls and very easy, "don't have to look at them" click controls on the dash. I now have to use my phone for GPS, phone calls, music choices, any information (like what is the capital of Florida? and a million other things I would ask Alexa about) and my audio books. So thanks, Lucid, I don't have to lift my finger to change a temperature, but will likely get a ticket or in an accident some day because I am once again looking at my phone for everything. I feel like I've gone backward 5 years. My GPS continues to take me to places totally unrelated to what I ask for-twice now to locations that were not safe as I drive to the hospital for call in the middle of the night. My backup camera is useless at night. And now, screens like when I turn on my blinker or the whole center display simply turn off and on at will. I love my Lucid and wanted to keep loving it, but it is now not really very safe. If my car were not worth less than what I owe on it, I would very sadly abandon Lucid. They have done about a dozen things to degrade the value of what I paid for the car. I just don't know how they are going to disappoint me next. If they can take away things that I paid for at will, who knows what will be next-maybe they will come take a tire...

Alexa was not great, but better. I like the idea of the native app, assuming they can get it right. My issues:
  • Sometimes, thinks but never responds
  • Indicates it's displaying results, but they never actually display
  • Results can be nothing close to what search is used - at least compared to others search engines.

Wouldn't be be great to have a robust, native app that can actually leverage and interface with Goggle calendar?

I'm sure there are many more suggestions, but I don't have a laundry list....

Doesn't work well with android. Doesn't recognize phone contacts.
 
Same experience here. I hope they can hear me tell, "Hey Lucid" how stupid it is sometimes with multiple expletives. I count on my GPS and phone and Alexa to keep my schedule, get me where I am going and to safely allow hands free operation. I have a long commute both ways each day and my car is my home for many hours a day and I have strived to get technology that is useful and either makes my car time safer, more productive or easier to manage. Since Lucid corporate came and STOLE my Alexa functionality after I had paid for IT!!!, I would have hoped the least they could do is to provide a serviceable replacement. That, they have NOT done. This home-grown 1990's level gadget gets what I say wrong about 30-40% of the time-Alexa virtually never does (nor does Google for that matter). I have an Android Galaxy S23 phone, and I cannot make any calls by voice and have to manually look up contacts and then hit dial, since the car has the contacts but stupid "hey Lucid" apparently can't see them. It is slow and doesn't connect to anything well. I seem to get music from Tidal when I ask for music, and I don't always want to use Tidal. It doesn't seem to understand TuneIn at all and plays a song whenever I ask for a TuneIn channel like CNBC. I have the most expensive car of most I know and while they love the looks and the handling/acceleration of it, they kind of giggle when they see my wired Amazon set up or hear me try to converse with Hey Lucid. I paid for better tech than this!!!!!

As to those who say Amazon Echo Auto is "the same thing", I beg to differ. If I wanted to use my phone and other gadgets for everything, I would have paid less for a less techy car. Oh wait, ther are no "less technology advance cars because every Kia and Hyundai and GMC/Ford, etc. do everything my car does and no wires and no complaints!! Also, if you want Amazon auto-get it quick because it seems they are out of stock everywhere and I suspect they are discontinued. However, I did find one and I find it incredibly annoying. My center console is home to a lot of things including a charging cord for my phone and a separate one for my watch. Now, I have the Amazon Echo wires on top of everything and since the main piece attaches magnetically to a holder, it often falls off as I rummage through my center console for something. I hate it! I hate that I need another device sticking out of my console which I now can't shut. I am shocked at how little "Hey Lucid" seems to be able to do (at least of the things I would like it do, but I guess it doesn't matter that much because it so often doesn't understand what I say anyway. I am bewildered by how difficult it is to find a GPS location or hear a song because the voice recognition sucks. I can't believe with the level of maturity of Siri, Alexa and Hey Google, that Lucid thought they could just put together a little "quickie" themselves. Whether that is true or not, it feels very unfinished and has made my expensive car far less safe and now I have wires like the we had when GPS's that were not built in and you always had wires running from the dash. "Hey Lucid" 1990 is missing you!
