I went to test drive EQS 580, I love the luxury of Merc, I was ready to put a deposit and switch from TSLA, everything went well until sales advisor said this "Yea, one more thing, for the EQS580, we have a dealer markup of $30,000+, the 450+ is about 7-10k Markup"......This is in Mercedes Benz Burlington MA. So, paying six figures ($120K starting) for a car that will depreciate in value is not enough, but overpaying on it I am already down that $30k, I walked out disappointed. Porsche doing same thing, basically all dealerships! Well, I came back home and ordered Air Touring, accepted all options, config is white. Just thought i'd share

You're not the first one to experience ridiculous markups on the EQS. @Jrettinger was in the same spot as you and but his dealership charge a $50,000 markup!

Also, in my opinion the EQS falls short compared to the Lucid and other top level EVs. It doesn't feel as much like an S class compared to the gas model.

What kind of markups did you see with the Taycan?

it was mostly dealership markup of XXX amount of dollars, no real justification

Honestly I am ok woth the manufacturer making profit. What I detest is the middle,an dealership markup and the nickel and diming me for everything. I want the car, I’ll pay the price. But when there middlemen and many charges for bits and bobs, I just don’t trust them. It seems like the difference between a $50,000 car with a $90,000 price tag, and simply a $95,000 car. The $5000 is not the issue, it’s the worth and value, and the trust I have in the process.

I agree that it sucks.

But, I don’t blame someone for trying to maximize profit for their family.

If no one bought it at that price they would lower it. I assume people are paying those (what I consider ridiculous) prices!

There may be some people buying, but I do not think they actually have tmany cars, because they are otherwise missing many opportunities to turn sales. I am turned off by this behavior, and I am probably not alone.
