New Lucid Air versus my Tesla S

I have a Lucid Air Since October. I traded my Porsche Panamera for the Lucid. The Air is truly the best car I have ever driven. The upgrades have been phenomenal in making the car even better. Love Apple Play integration. I have driven from Maryland to North Carolina without a need for a charge. However, on occasion for need of a “pit stop” I have taken advantage of the free charge and found Electrify America easy to use. The charging is seamless. Much faster than the Tesla S. Easy to use since usually in a Walmart parking lot.The workmanship, overall is phenomenal. Need to be patient for the needed software updates.

I still own a 2016 Tesla S because I like the rear facing seats which you cannot get now. Holds Seven. Great for grandchildren. Has five point restraint. Don't need child car seats for most children. Yes, the garage door issue is annoying with the Lucid. Had similar glitchy issues when first purchased the Tesla S. Need to be patient. I wish the Lucid had hydraulic shocks so the car can raise and lower depending on speed and remember to raise with low curbs. My Tesla S has this.

Everyone I speak to that has purchased a Tesla S in 2022, including two of my partners, has been disappointed with the workmanship and in some case the design. No one likes the steering wheel. The shape, the small button for the horn and the materials used are just a few of the complaints. Essentially, if you previously owned a Tesla S and bought a new one, you were disappointed in the workmanship. The low-profile car tires often squeaks on turns when cold. There are always problems with something not right at delivery. The push to get the cars out the factory door is obvious.

You will not be disappointed with the Lucid. Just need to be patient. A week doesn't go by when someone doesn't walk by the car and compliment the appearance.

I also owned a 2017 Tesla Model S and recently picked up an Air Touring. The craftsmanship (multiple fabrics, 5K monitor), interior room (especially rear (3.7" lower floor than the GT), quietness (save the low speed "turbo" whine), build quality (soft close doors), range, driving enjoyment are far superior than the S. I agree with bBigpine 21 and also miss the air suspension feature in the Tesla which was practical. All the other many, many issues with software will eventually get addressed with OTA updates. Driving the Lucid car is much more enjoyable. Best car I have ever owned. Hope Lucid stays in business...

Glad to know. Have you checked out any other EVs like the Taycan?
Hi, I have the Touring, I still have model S 2017. The 2 features that I use every day from model s are easy entry and garage opening and closing automatically. I hope that Lucid will update software with those features soon.

I have to agree even without the easy open feature Lucid air garage entry takes too many steps. Lucid is aware of this most wanted feature. The question is are they working on it and can get it to work right or is Lucid ignoring this requested feature.

bBigpine21,

I totally agree! I got rid of my model 3 because of the poor Tesla workmanship. My friend brought his two month old Model S Plaid to the Lucid Beverly Hills Boutique to compare my newly purchased Air GT. After 1 year of building cars, the Lucid by every measure of workmanship was better than the Tesla. Panel gaps, materials and feel was better with the Lucid. Of course, there is no comparison to Tesla software with the early( and current) version of Lucid UX. However, give Lucid 5 years and lets see where they are.
