I would like to buy an Air

The thing that gets me the most is the poorly conceived interior configurations

Why can't I get brown front and rear seats?

Why can't I get a black carpet with my brown seats?

Why can't I get a black roof or exterior chrome deletes?

This is supposed to be a high end product

Their main competitive advantage over Tesla is that they seem to provide a real luxury interior where Tesla has gone sub-Corolla

And yet they let some less that competent folks limit the interior configurations

When I tried to push the issue with the folks working at the local studio I got a mix of I know and agree with you, no chance of getting what you want, maybe just get the Mojave, which is the least stupid looking of the choices

I can't even get the dream edition with the Mohave interior

Hopefully someone inside the company will wake up, make some changes and take my money

You can't please everyone!
What they have done is marvelous.
You can make changes yourself, if you are so concerned.
One can change the seats and carpets with modification on their own.
Lucid has worked so hard and it is somewhat a moot complaint.

That sounds like what one of the sales folks said

Why should I have to take the car to an aftermarket shop after paying like $180K to start with

Lucid has black carpets and brown leather, its not like I'm asking for stuff they don't have

Just give me some ability to configure what I want, not have to live with what some disconnected designer came up with (likely without any consumer input)

What other car company puts black seats in front and brown in back?

The designer is out of touch

I understand your point of view and sympathize with you.

Just because they have the availability of certain designs and colors, if they can mix and match to the fancy of the buyer, they need to make special efforts to make custom modification, costing extra.

The cost could be exorbitant. If one can take care of the extra expenses, a company should provide them. Rolls Royce make custom vehicles to the need of the customers, but may cost twice the original price.

I am not trying to down anyone, but umpteen people may want umpteen custom modifications, which may not sell if Lucid manufactures them in high numbers taking a big loss.

Again as times go by, a lot of modifications and combinations may appear if the demand is so great for such changes. People may need to demand in high numbers for any changes in their combination or they fail to sell certain combinations, they may consider withdrawing such combinations.

Actually when I reserved mine in early 2017, I saw the Lucid Air in all white interior, including the steering, roof, and dash. I loved it. But I am not getting what I wanted at the time of reservation (it was $25,500 originally) but satisfied with Santa Monica selection.

We need to appreciate how much Lucid has done in improving the EV in technology and luxury compared to the one's available now.

At this point we know the car is nice

I am waiting to see if in real world use the car is reliable

Remember the CEO comes from Jaguar, a real flunky company in terms of quality

I hope they have put a true quality system in place, time will tell

I am fine with them charging extra to give me what I want

I am not looking for RR levels of customization, again just take the materials you have in stock and put them in the places I want (brown seats in front and a black carpet on the floor)

The MB will certainly be an excellent car and will have the advantages that come from an experienced company with a broad sales, service and parts network.

The big companies have adults working there and aren't in a hurry to put 1100+ HP cars in the hands of a bunch of low skilled drivers.

Companies like Tesla and now Lucid are run by less well considered management and are willing to provide these what I call irresponsible cars that I am attracted to.

Back to the question, I don't buy MB, BMW or Cheatwagen stuff based on the WWII connections.

I agree Mercedes is one of the best cars. I have been buying the S or similar models since 1970, till I bought Tesla Model S a couple of years ago. Though the Tesla is not put together great and has a poor quality interior, it is a lot of fun to drive.
The Lucid Air will have the comfort of Mercedes and fun to drive better than Tesla.

The two tone theme is a Lucid trademark, something to stand out and be different. I read somewhere about the concept. If I find it I'll post link. I'm sure in a few months you'll be able to get some weather tech liners. I've struggled to keep carpet clean but mostly free of wear.

@Overcharged I hate to sound like a snob $180,000 in 2021 isn't an expensive car. You got SUV and pick up trucks fully loaded over $100,000. Also, unless you have a Dream Edition on reserve you're not going to get one at that price point.

May be, we have to use shoe covers to getting into the Lucid to drive!

Lucid Air Dream Edition is more of an expensive car, in today's market.

However, it is worth it, (every penny of it) if one can manage to buy it.

Mirrors my experience as well. Drove BMWs, Mercedes, and Audis for 25 years then two back to back model S performance. Just couldn’t pull the trigger on a plaid with the mildly upgraded interior that takes too many cues from the downstream model 3. Plus the exterior has only slightly evolved in 12 years. The Mercedes as well as the other legacy auto makers are still playing catch-up in range and power to tesla. Lucid seems to have leapfrogged Tesla both in engineering and style. I do agree it’s just stupid that the Dream only comes with one interior. I would consider it if I could get either two of the optional interiors that the grand touring has. I think the lucid to get will be in about 3/4 years after a few million customer miles with feedback leading to the first mild refresh with a tri motor (1600 hp) and a full air suspension, not just active dampers. My two cents

How much additional weight would air suspension add? How much ride improvement would you get and sacrifice in range? Air suspension was shelved by Lucid some time back.

I kind of wonder what their tri-motor plan is. It was kind of pitched as Lucid's version of an M5.

I asked the sales person at the local studio and he had no info, but then these folks are just trying their best to sell everyone on a silver roof that few people would typically choose if they had such a choice. Does look good on a 911 targa.

1600 HP from the tri-motor seems like a stretch (not in terms of could they do it).

My understanding is the dream has 2 of the Lucid 680 HP motors, so that car could also be unlocked for more power.

I am hoping that some manufacturer puts 4 of the new Yamaha 496 HP electric motors in a car.

That does sound bad to Me. Geez. 180,000 is a ton on money. You come buy several homes for that in the US.

Several homes? Several would mean 3, so $60,000 each... Not luxury ones. Condo yeah, but not on either west or east coast. Mmm, a $180,000 car living in a $180,000 home in America, interesting.

Here's one near me for $169,000
