I already have a ChargePoint Flex unit that I use for my Leaf. It’s set at 40 amps on a 50amp circuit with a NEMA 14-50 plug. It can schedule charging and can be controlled by the app like the Lucid Home Charging Station. At a max of 9.6kW, it is more than the Leaf can use, but only half of the AGT max. I doubt if I will need to charge the Air more than once a week so this unit should be able to do double duty.

I do want the Lucid charger unit eventually, but ONLY if I can really do bidirectional charging with it.

After reading this thread and thinking about it I may have ours installed in-between our parking spots in the garage. Even with 21" I'd only need to charge once a week. Lucid is real slow on the bi-directional unit and it may not be ready by next summer.

An overhead install would be the best solution, since there's no standard on port location.

Unless you want the Lucid wall charger, you won't have to buy a home charger. The Lucid comes with a charging cable and connector for a FEMA 14-50 plug. All you have to do is have a "dryer plug" on a 50-amp line installed, which you would need anyway for a third-party charger.

I've seen products and videos for ceiling mounted Tesla charger with retracting cable. I guess the decision will have to be made about this potential for home back up. My concern here is they are saying run 100 amp circuit. That's only enough to run a few circuits but not a whole house? Just may go for UPS and Kohler generator. Because, what happens when you aren't home...

you should be able to. My Nissan Leaf has the capability to schedule when it would charge from home. There are two different timers, one for weekdays and one for weekends. We used that method with the Leaf’s portable charger before we got the ChargePoint Flex. However, I have not heard definitely that the current Lucid Air software can set the clock time to start and end a charge from the car - only that you can set the maximum capacity to charge to, such as 80%.

which is quite disappointing when you can get a car for 19K (after rebates) that will allow timed charging.

Biggest issue was with the drain while the charger was plugged in. I just adjusted that to plug in before I head to bed when I needed to charge overnight, which only for testing purposes for you forum guys.

i hope they fix both the battery drain and the scheduling issue within the next 2 months before I get my AGT. While I have a ChargePoint and can schedule, the battery drain waiting for the charge is the issue. I would think that if they have scheduling available, the car won’t be in a fully wake state until the time to charge, thus limiting the drain.

My suspicion is that this will be one of the first OTA updates. They surely recognize this is a blind spot.

I have a Tesla Model X now that I plan to sell when I get my Air GT. I have the NEMA 14-50 which gives me about 20 miles of range per hour. Do we know how much range I would get per hour wit this setup?

Miles of range always depends how you aggressively you drive, air temperature, speed, etc. so I would have no clue. But, since the NEMA 14-50 plug can deliver 40 amps, you can add 9.6 kW per hour into the battery. if one gets 4 miles per kW, it would be 38 miles per hour.

It would also depend on the home charging supply unit you are using. If the charging unit cannot deliver 40 amps, the amount you add will be less. The Lucid portable charger can supply the full 40 amps.

When you refer to my home charging unit, I don't have one. For my Tesla, I use the supplied charging cable and plug it into my NEMA 14-50 which connects to a 50 amp circuit. I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) that Lucid supplies a similar cable that connects to the same outlet. True?

I don't have the Tesla wall charger because I don't need super fast charging.
