Lucid Gravity or Volvo EX90

While I am on the waiting list for my Gravity a 2025 Volvo EX90 Twin Motor Performance, Ultra car has become available. It is out of State in Texas so it will cost me around $800 to deliver. I can lease with no money down for 27 months at $895 which includes tax and lic. It has the Bowers Wilkins stereo upgrade. Which I loved in my 2017 Volvo XC90 plugin. The car MSRP at $93k. It was a demo and driver for management. At MSRP, I would stick with my $122k Gravity. But I have not heard great things about the high end stereo Pro. The gravity also has real leather. I am torn, but thinking I will take the Volvo lease for 27 months then come back to Gravity if it continues to improve. What think you all. This particular car was damaged in a hail storm. The PDR folks have worked their magic. I won’t want to own the car at lease end

I had hoped to get some input, thus far nothing. I have decided to go with the Volvo. They repaired all the hail damage and the car gets picked up today for shipment. I will post my take with the car once I have had a chance to drive it for a week or so. I do like the shape and general look of the car. Volvo is a very conservative car company vs Lucid which is pushing the boundaries. I love tech, and will probably become bored with the Volvo. We shall see.

Although EX90 is also reportedly plagued with SW issues, I would agree that it's probably still better option, especially for the price. To put that into a perspective, I pay about same amount monthly on 2024 Air Touring after 5K down, on a special lease offer.
What I think is a very bad sign with Gravity - that Lucid supposedly started most SW development from scratch as opposed to branching it off from Air one. With the rate of improvement we all witness, it will take years for Gravity to get to the same point where Air is now, even though the latter one still has a long list of issues and shortcomings.
I'm actually seriously considering XC90 T8 Ultra once my Lucid lease is over.

Yes, good points. This will be our 6th BEV vehicle, so I am used to software issues. As long as the car is not bricked preventing any driving I believe Volvo will fix things. I am not putting down the Gravity. Had the deliveries occurred as originally planned, I would be driving my Gravity as we speak.
Both The Volvo EX90 and the Gravity need to fix the roof glass that is a heat trap so that either it is electronically controlled chromatic or they have an electric screen. Providing a screen that can be placed under the glass roof is a cheap fix that is not in keeping with a high end vehicle.

I will be selling my Tesla Model X. That car has a Hugh windshield that blinds the driver. I paid to have the windshield tinted which helps but is still not perfect. They provide a screen, that we use. Why have the big glass? The other issue is the front suspensio. All Model X and Model S use the same front suspension. If you raise the car to improve the clearance then the u-joints become damaged. There is no fix, you must replace the components . Thus has been an issue since 2016 for the model X and earlier for the model S. Once damaged, the car will shutter under heavy acceleration. The Model 3 and Y have different setups. Finally there is the Elon factor which has reduced the resale of my 2020 car from $106k to $38k.

Believe it or not, but the Ioniq 5 I have in a household, is pretty much perfect. Granted, not luxury neither powerful as other cars listed here, but no glitches, everything is done right, and driving it is a pleasure. 2.5 x cheaper too.

This doesn't help, as once blacked out, it still keeps heating up like crazy, and without insulation makes a cooking pan right above the head. Electric screen is the only reasonable option here, as it can trap hot air at least.

I would say it's not that bad, given how other EVs depreciate. I sold my 2019 Jaguar I-PACE (96K sticker) for 27K little over a year ago, and consider myself lucky :LOL:

The U- joint issue for some reason has never been a recall. Tesla repairs during warranty. Costs are about $1200 or so. The problem is the angle is too extreme. When the car is raised the angles become worst. If you turn the wheel while driving it tears into the metal. There is no factory fix. They recommend you always drive in low height.i have heard of some suspension kits from private parties parts at $1500. Tesla would need to completely change the suspension to fix the problem. The shutter at acceleration is probably not a safety issue?

I received the Volvo EX90 on Tuesday morning. I was not sure what to expect given a lot of concerns voiced on poor software.

The good news is that the only issue I have is with the KeyFob. It requires that it be charged at least every 21 days. Unfortunately this car was an early delivery to the dealership. I think it sat in the file cabinet for several months. Once they go dead they often cannot be recharged. So I will need to go by my local dealer for an exchange. Having said that, my iPhone and the flat credit card like keys work fine. My Apple Watch also opens the car.

Given we have had a Tesla Model X for three years, the software in the Volvo is intuitive and not as much an issue as I had anticipated. The car is so quiet, I mean really quiet. The Bowers Wilkins is so fxxking good. Much better than what I recall in my XC90 T8 Volvo. That alone Makes it worth the price. Now I need to cancel my Gravity. I am sad. If I had a big enough garage, I might have both. The Volvo does not have Napa leather which is a big disappointment.

Now would be great if you find time to do Polestar 3 test drive and compare all 4 of them.

What I recently realized is that XC90 basically plays on the EV's ground, offering ~4.5 sec 0-60 and pure electric drive mode (~35 mi, but still). Sure enough, the power curve will have weaker lows than an EV. But stronger highs, and still an option of quick refueling, with 500+ mi real world autonomy... :unsure:

I find it better than the need to change battery in the KeyFob every month or two.
But it might be personal preference of course.

I think that should be dealers fault and therefore at not cost for you.

I would lease a bmw IX and wait for Volvo and lucid to work out the bugs. Owned a 2022 lucid GT and was a beta testa for the 14 months I owned it. The Volvo will be the same. See out of spec review on the Volvo. The gravity will be better than the air launch but expect first year quality issues. I hope lucid makes it but post the 7500 lease credits I have my doubts. The Saudis won’t invest forever.
