Just wanted to introduce myself and thank you guys for already having a forum ready to go. I'm a current Tesla Model 3 Performance owner and placed my reservation on August 6th for the Air Grand Touring.
Lucid was kind enough to set me up with a studio visit in Miami this morning and the entire experience was absolutely first class. The team there was incredibly friendly and spent over an hour with me looking through every aspect of the car. As an engineer, I really enjoyed getting to see the frame and battery structure.
A few things I noticed...
I was amazed by the variety of high quality surfaces in the cabin and how they each seem to have an interesting texture. I think coming out of a Tesla I appreciate everything not being smooth vinyl even more. It's a really nice design element and makes the car look even higher end than the more plastic you look of even Porsche and Mercedes these days.
I'm reasonably but not unusually tall at just over 6 ft. One definitely needs to get their head down and under the door frame before you straighten up into the spacious interior. There's definitely an additional neck movement necessary there. I think the payoff is once you're inside that cabin the glass roof is so amazing. Has anyone else that 6 ft or over noticed the sun visors seem to be right in the middle of your line of vision? I chatted with the studio representative there who said that as a pre-production car these things could move around.
All of the YouTube and articles I read had discussed how spacious the back seat was. Words really can't do it justice. It's huge back there I don't really know where they get all that space. This may be one of the rare times we use my my car instead of my wife's for long trips.
I was pretty committed to the darker gray color and it looked spectacular on the pre-production demo unit. But, seeing that deep red in real life makes me reevaluate my commitment to the gray.
The car is spectacularly low and sleek. One of my concerns about the Lucid versus Tesla is that it's less of a sporty car. But it actually looks lower and sleeker than the Model S. I'm optimistic that there will be an aggressive firm drive mode that makes the car really stiff.
Anyway great to be part of this community and please let me know if anyone else has that experience with the sunvisors. That was the only thing that made me the tiniest bit concerned about being comfortable in the car.
