I have reserved the Lucid Air Touring w/optional glass top. However, I don't have enough information to consider whether other options are worth the costs. The upgraded audio system is an additional $2,900. However, I have no idea of the quality of the standard audio system. So I have no basis for comparison. Likewise, the DreamDrive Pro is an additional $9,000. I have not seen a clear explanation of what features this adds over the driving features that come standard. Can anyone help me with this??

No...and until they do...it is a "no" for me. I understand that there is some additional hardware (such as Lidar). But buying an unknown future for $9K seems excessive...especially given the Tesla experience. My suggestion, but it won't be followed, would be that they sell the hardware for a reduced price (say $3K) with the remainder an option if one wants DD Pro as it evolves. That I would go for.

DDP is 🙏 just like FSD has been for years. DDP says Level 3 and FSD is supposed to be Level 4/5, but really you are paying for hope and maybe in the future. I will wait on it, they should offer a monthly subscription when ready IMO. Monthly subscriptions are going to be the new game in town.

Are you an Audiophile? Do you feel all the extra speakers and premium sound is worth it to you? It is not worth it to me, but to you or others it is. That's one of those do you want/need and do you think it makes the car worth more/more desirable.

It's your money

I agree w/ the analysis of the DDP. However, re the upgraded audio it is difficult to make an intelligent decision if you don't have an opportunity to listen to and compare the standard and the upgrade. I plan to schedule another test drive and this time turn the radio on. This still will not give me an informed comparison because I'll only be listening to the audio in the car, which I assume will be the Dolby Altos.

My issue is that if I pay for DDP the hardware may not be able to handle it when it is ready. Other thoughts?

As for audio, to me, it also depends on how much long hole driving I do. I do not need the upgraded system to listen to the news from work to home. However if I was taking drive regularly appreciate it on the longer drive.

I'm not buying the audio upgrade, I can't miss what I never had.

DDP isn't ready, I won't buy it, who knows if it's HW can handle...it should. They should offer a monthly subscription when ready and I would do that.

They call it level 3 but there's no such thing. My state laws say that I have to pay attention no matter what, so it's all level 2. Tesla's does quite a bit on freeways, but is limited on local streets. It's too bad that they made it all or none with FSD. Lucid can call it level anything but it really comes down to what it can do. If it can do what Tesla does now, I'd be fine and wouldn't need the parts that Tesla doesn't have yet.

As for audio, the place that Tesla really screwed up is the interface for playing content from a USB drive. I don't know about the quality of Lucid's sound system yet, but it's a moot point if I can't play what I want to play.

What state law says and what it offers are two different things. My Tesla says pay attention, but on a highway it pretty much drives itself. I wish I understood what is included in all these...for instance FSD I assume is not just the final FSD mode but a series of steps along the way that will be functionalized. I have not been able to find anything about what DPP will add excepts that I assume DPP may be required for any advanced functionality. As with FSD, the risk is that the cost will go up to add later. I would not worry about the hardware. compared with Tesla. the Lucid has everything that might be needed for advanced pseudo-self driving if not full self driving. I think the software is going to be the rate limiting step for a long time.

What state laws say is very relevant because Lucid can't say to you that at certain times, you can stop watching the road or could watch a movie or use a cell phone or anything else. Laws would have to allow you to do those things, or it's not really level 3.

If you are fine calling it level 3 even though you have to pay full attention, the call Tesla's Navigate on Autopilot level 4 on highways, making the car level 3 overall since it's limited circumstances.
