Looking for some thoughts answers on some big picture items. I've had my Grand Touring for about 6 months and have been waiting patiently hoping for progress.
  • The salesperson said "Yes, Lucid will have the same level of autonomous driving as Tesla. Everything up to legal limits." Dream drive seems to be basic adaptive cruise control and very choppy lane assist. Not impressive. Is this a case of buyer-beware, or will software upgrades get us there at some point?
  • Heard early on that ApplePlay would be coming. Will it?
  • Was told by service that SXM Radio is only in Beta testing and the issue is they are streaming while every other car made accesses satellite feed. Is this the best we're going to get? Mine works about half the time.
Thans for any thoughts.

This is one of the reason , i am thinking twice to stick or cancel to my confirmed order. no authoritative response from Lucid, answers varies from one salesperson/SA to another. i am curios on safety features specific to recording from the cameras when it is driving or parked, getting a mixed response and no committed response from Lucid (as far i saw in the forums or else were), one Sales person said it may or may not coming, DA said he think it is part of the roadmap, in the studio the response is it should be in the works i will check and get back to you . no timeline for any features which they promised this car will have....frustrating.

That’s the reason Lucid may go under. No concern for their customers. Yep it has been rumored that Apple Play will come last January yet no apple play.
Lucid has fired their head of software and hired the ex head of car Play from Apple.
Right now they’re two busy getting the bugs out as so far all of the updates have mainly be bug related.

I don’t blame you if like 90% of Lucid other reservation holder should you cancel. Lucid needs to admit their error and their future plans to correct them so far silence

I took delivery of my Lucid Air GT last July. I was promised that DreamDrive would be equivalent to Tesla's Enhanced AutoPilot within a few months, Apple CarPlay would be in the next major software release, and I should get around 4.2 Miles per Kwh. Also, such things as being able to save favorites in the navigation system is something that vehicle navigations systems have done for 15 plus years would be available soon. Why can't Lucid have even that basic functionality? And tying the navigation into my contacts for addresses? All pretty basic stuff.

Very disappointed in the failed promises to date. As a former 3 time Tesla Model S owner, I still love the way the Lucid drives, and the comfort on the road. But I am also very disappointed in the the lack of progress on the customer service side of failed promises. I really hope Lucid survives, but I am getting nervous, because even with a quality mechanical EV, the failed promises will eventually come back to hurt them in reputational issues on a vehicle costing this much.

When the Apple Team joined, they upgraded the UI on the Pilot Panel, but we haven't seen any major changes since then.

Anyone have comments on these thoughts?

As a retired software engineer with 40 years of experience, I can take an educated guess re the software end of things…

The new software team inherited an architecture and design from the previous software team. Improvements like the UI that could be made without a re-design are delivered quickly, but I suspect the larger and more extensive improvements likely require a partial re-design. With the “right” design, improvements and enhancements are easier and faster to deliver.

Lucid likely has part of the software team delivering improvements that can be made atop the current design, while part of the software team works on re-designing those parts that are fundamentally flawed. Once these design changes are made, improvements and enhancements (CarPlay?) can and will be delivered.

Maybe they should have gotten this “right” the first time, but this is the nature of the beast (software) and happens with most complex software systems. It’s also the software that changes and adapts to the hardware as car manufacturers want to avoid changing hardware ( difficult & expensive), so there will always be software updates. I suspect by mid-summer ‘23 we will start to see improvements & enhancements roll out at a faster pace and we’ll see more substantial progress.
