Overall, Lucid has to be happy with the review and scoring of the car. To me, the car looks great and definitely want one but I question if we’re going to be niche owners or not.
Purely my opinion but I think Lucid doesn’t know what it wants to be. They keep talking about luxury but then give you performance as well. It’s like they wanted to play in the Audi, Mercedes, BMW space but also stick it to Tesla at the same time.
The downside I see is do luxury car owners want luxury AND performance or just want a nice looking luxury car? To me, the performance is a nice to have but with the Lucid you get both and as a result you’re certainly paying for it.
Doug mentioned it, it’s an extremely expensive car. Apart from motor and battery what’s going to be stripped out in the lower models. If the ambient lighting, sun shades etc. are reserved for the Grand Touring and stripped from the Touring and Air Pure it’s not going to be able to compete with similar cars in its class. Yes, it will have more range and HP than others in its class but will luxury owners care about that over missing features that are standard in others? That I’m not so sure on.
I really want Lucid to succeed. Given all the hype from the reviews etc and to only have 17,000 pre orders something seems misaligned.
