Connect the Lucid Google account? How

Just saw in the manual you need to use your current Google account and ask “Connect to lucid motors.”

See google or its also (can you believe it) in the manual. DL Google Assistant then as you stated all you need do is say
"Google . . . followed by any question or command. Your GA app will lead you down the types of things you can do via the assistant.

Is this activated by using the car microphone or just the app on your phone?

I believe only through your phone but I haven't gotten that far yet. Not a big fan of the app as my main key as it activates at probably 60-75 feet line of site so every time you want into the garage or past the vehicle it wakes up. The app should right off prompt you to allow tracking as opposed to having to set the phone to "always allow" and constantly waking the vehicle up if you go into your garage or near it.
